Overnight Residential Summer Camps
It is said that you need to experience the fun at an overnight summer camp to know exactly what it is like. If you have experienced one, you would definitely like your child to know of the same. And, if you haven’t, you would certainly not let your child miss out the same. Traditional summer camps are popular all over the world. They have been around for several decades and there popularity is only soaring. These days, things have become more organized and lots of fun activities are being introduced every year. Today, you can find several firms that specialize in organizing overnight summer camps. In fact, the options are so many and so enticing that you’ll find it hard to choose one for your child.
Why should you encourage your child for kids’ camps?
Child psychologists advocate strongly for summer camps. They believe it is one of the most enjoyable methods of personality development. It helps children learn to work as a team and also facilitates character building. Today, children lead a pampered life where parents strive to fulfill their every right or unjustified demand; in such an environment children tend to become selfish and find it hard to gel with others. Overnight summer camps remove them from their cocooned setting and give them the opportunity to carve out a space for themselves in the society.
Fun and frolic along with learning
Kids and teens are often tempted to join a summer camp thinking it is all about fun. Yes, it is true that children are given an environment where they can enjoy activities with fellow campers, but along with the fun they can learn about lot of other things. For instance, in a wildlife camp, children get to learn a lot about nature and become more sensitive towards the environment. They get to meet new people, share experiences and in the process their awareness level is enhanced.
Specialized teen summer camps
Teenaged kids can learn a lot from specialized summer camps. Depending on their interests and hobbies, teenagers can join summer camps specializing in painting, sports, creative writing, wildlife, weight loss etc. Along with fun and camaraderie, teen summer camps help teenagers hone their talent. Sometime, summer camps also help them to understand if they can turn their hobby into profession later in their life.
Choose a safe overnight summer camp
Safety of the child is of paramount importance for parents. Ensure your child will be safe in the camp. Choose an organizer who is experienced and is taking care of all requisite safety measure. You can also speak to the camp counselors to learn more about the camping environment.
Unforgettable memories
Sitting under the stars along with friends, singing songs, exchanging contacts and bidding warm farewells can only be experienced at a traditional overnight summer camp. Some campers become so fond of each other that they become lifelong friends. But almost all of the campers generate beautiful memories that they cherish for lifetime. Let your child too experience the fun in reality by encouraging them to participate in summer camps.

The Great Outdoors $3.65 This hit-and-miss 1988 comedy pairs John Candy and Dan Aykroyd in a story of one family’s summer vacation all but ruined by the uninvited appearance of another, more loutish family. Howard Deutch (Some Kind of Wonderful) directs from a half-hearted John Hughes script, which reduces Hughes’s jokes-and-epiphanies formula (The Breakfast Club, Home Alone) to true gaudiness. On the other hand, Annette … |

Homeward Bound 2: Lost In San Francisco $14.99 Two dogs and a cat, separated from their human family, must find their way home and face the dangers of a big city for the first time in this adventure story for the whole family. Bob Seaver (Robert Hays) and his wife Laura (Kim Greist), who live in Northern California, are taking their kids on a camping vacation in Canada, and they’re bringing along their pets — spunky bulldog Chance (voice of Michael J. Fox), self-centered Himalayan cat Sassy (voice of Sally Field), and wise old Golden Retriever Shadow (voice of Ralph Waite). However, Chance doesn’t like being cooped up in his travelling cage at the airport, and when he escapes, Sassy and Shadow follow him to the nearest city, San Francisco. After a scary night on their own, the trio are befriended by a gang of stray dogs and cats who have learned to live on their own after running away from their cruel masters. However, Chance, Sassy, and Shadow soon realize that life on the streets is not for them, and they set out to find the Seaver house they call home. Sports fans take note: Bob Uecker, Tommy Lasorda, and Al Michaels appear as themselves and also provide the voices of their pets. The voice of Shadow was performed by Don Ameche in the preceding film Homeward Bound; it proved to be Ameche’s last film released before his death in late 1993 (his final film, Corrina, Corrina, didn’t reach theaters until several months after his passing), leading the producers of this sequel to cast Ralph Waite in the role. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi |

Northern Kids $9.72 In the north, there are days when the sun doesn”t set, but rather lingers along the horizon for a few hours before launching its daylong journey once more. In this often cold and austere place, brave kids live between the world”s largest glaciers and the country”s tallest peak, Mt. Logan. The fourth addition to the Courageous Kids series, Northern Kids is a survey of the history and experience of the North, told through the voices of kids. Composed of stories from the past and present, the topics range from hunting caribou with a bow and arrow, a grizzly bear visit while camping, escaping a devastating forest fire, rafting on the Yukon river, and many more. At the end of each story is section called ”What do we know for sure?” that offers the reader greater depth and context. |
